Amblyopia is a condition that refers to decreased vision that cannot be corrected with glasses. It deals with the perception of sight which involves brain function. This condition is commonly referred to as “lazy eye”. Common causes of this are uncorrected refractive conditions during childhood while the visual system is developing and misalignment of the eyes, or “crossed eyes”.
Our office evaluates for these conditions during complete eye exams and can monitor, treat, and coordinate referrals. We also have a muscle specialist from the University of Michigan, Dr. Bruce Furr, who sees patients at our office throughout the year to evaluate and coordinate care with patients dealing with these conditions.
