Liesel M. Zima, M.D.

Dr. Liesel M. Zima is a comprehensive ophthalmologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases, medical retina and cataract surgery who joined Kalamazoo Ophthalmology in July 2018.

Dr. Zima graduated from the University of Michigan with distinction, majoring in neuroscience and minoring in music. She earned her medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in 2014 where she received clinical honors in Ophthalmology. She completed her internship at Michigan State University and Grand Rapids Medical Education Partners and her residency in Ophthalmology at Indiana University and the Glick Eye Institute.

During her education, she participated in research projects in pediatric ophthalmology, macular degeneration, vitreo-retinal surgery and cataract surgery. She also acted as a resident advocacy ambassador at the 2017 American Academy of Ophthalmology Mid-Year Forum in Washington D.C. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to return to her home state to serve patients.

Dr. Zima is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a proud member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS).
